The Charities Co-ordination Committee
KLB supports a number of charities through a variety of fundraising
initiatives. Whole year groups raise money to meet ongoing commitments to
national or local charities, but often fund raising is carried out by
smaller groups of pupils or even by individuals.
It was therefore felt that there was a need for coordination of
activities within the school. Coincidentally one of the projects selected by
the school and its partners under the EEC Comenius scheme for 2003 was the
development of a school policy towards charity work. The Charities
Co-ordination Committee was therefore set up with funding from the Comenius
Project.
The aims of the Committee are:
- to co-ordinate the fund-raising activities of the different year
groups and keep a calendar of charity events
- to oversee the organisation of whole school charity events
It is hoped that this will not only increase the sums of money raised,
but will also focus pupils’ attention on the importance of charitable giving
within the community.
