JWP is the departmental representative for SEN. Provision is made for pupils with special educational needs and they are accommodated in several ways in Art and Design. These pupils are integrated into an art group where they can benefit from working in small groups within the class and in some cases with the help of a support teacher. This is negotiated with the Head of Special Needs.

Staff who identify a child with learning difficulties should commence the Code of Practice under the guidance of the Head of Special Needs.

Teachers are requested to write instructions on the board using clear and large letters.

Any worksheets used with these groups have been discussed with a special needs advisory teacher and differentiated.

In examinations at the end of each year help is given to pupils with reading and writing difficulties in order to encourage them to communicate their knowledge.

Exceptionally able to gifted pupils should be acknowledged and their names given to the Director of Studies.
