Saul Tembo's visit - 2002

Saul Tembo is a talented artist from Zambia in Africa.
He teaches in a small secondary school in Chengello and has spent four weeks in KLB School working on a mural project with our year 9 pupils.
From designs submitted by every pupil in year nine, 2 from each teaching group have been chosen to be painted by groups of 8 pupils at a time for eventually fixing under the windows of the Design Technology rooms. Each panel depicts a different aspect of Africa including the people, wildlife, artefacts and the environment.
Using images of his own work Saul explains to the groups about life in Zambia. He illustrates the differences between our customs and those of another culture.

Pupils listen attentively as he discusses everyday issues such as dress, eating habits, feeding babies etc.
