Ten Tors 2005

Nearly at a checkpoint The TEN TORS is a two day hike over Dartmoor which took place over the weekend of 14th & 15th May.

Since January 2005, pupils interested in taking part have been going on training hikes and learning the necessary map reading and camping skills.

The routes are either 35, 45 or 55 miles and this year KLB entered one of each teams.

The event is run by the Army, and the first task on arrival at Okehampton Camp is to have all their kit check carefully.

After careful route planning for the following 2 days, its time to eat.

Saturday starts at 5am with breakfast in the rain, and the teams leave at 7am.

This year it rained all day Saturday, and many of the entrants dropped out.

The official Ten Tors website gives updates when each team passes through one of the ten checkpoints.

Both the 45 and 55 mile teams had left the last Tor, but would they reach the finish before the 5pm deadline?
