The Woodland Trust help pupils from Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School to create a hedge!
School children from Katharine Lady Berkeley’s School joined forces with the Woodland Trust, the UK’s leading woodland conservation charity, to plant a native hedgerow on their school grounds as part of the Woodland Trust’s Tree For All Campaign. The trees and shrubs planted in the schools’ grounds are all native broadleaved which means, that with a little luck, they will be growing on well into the next century – when the children’s grandchildren will be able to inspect their handiwork.
The hedge planting is part of a Gardening Scheme begun by Year 8 pupils with the aim of improving the school grounds for all pupils and staff by encouraging an appreciation of the environment and providing a habitat for wildlife. Pupils who took part are Elliott Lawrence, James Page, David Hall, George Whatley, Jordan Lamb, Samantha Livall, Jade Morgan, Olivia Morgan, Daniel Page, Luke Hopkins, Rachel Luton, Samantha Buckland, Ashley Wilson, Ruth Appleton and Laura Forrester.
