Pupils at Key Stage 4 are offered two ICT
courses:
- A short-course GCSE in ICT (OCR exam board - code 1094).
This course
is offered to all pupils not studying for the full GCSE ICT
course. The time allocation is one period a week over the two
years. The examination for this course is at the end of year 11, in the
summer term.
- A full-course GCSE in ICT (OCR
exam board - code 1994).
This course is offered as part of the normal option
choices available to all pupils entering Year 10. The examination for this
course is at the end of year 11, in the summer term.
Short-course assessment
- Two coursework projects
Project 1a and Project 1b - these account for 60%
of the total assessment;
- One examination paper
Taken in
the summer term of Y11 - this accounts for 40%
of the total assessment.
Full-course assessment:
- Three coursework projects
The two short-course projects plus an additional Project 2 - these account for
60%
of the total assessment;
- Two examination papers
Taken in
the summer term of Y11 and consisting of the short-course examination paper
plus an additional paper - these account for 40% of the
total assessment.

tiers of entry are available for the examination:
- The Foundation tier assesses grades G to C
(1 hour examination paper);
- The Higher tier assesses grades D to A*
(1½ hour examination
paper);
The examinations test knowledge and understanding of computer systems,
communications technology and information management. The
questions mainly require short responses, single word answers or one or two sentences,
although pupils will need to give extended responses to questions that are targeted
at the higher grades.
Additional Support:
- An ICT room, staffed by a member of
the ICT department, is open as follows:
- Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
lunchtimes;
- Wednesdays, after school until
4:00pm.
