ICT Teaching:

Information & Communication Technology (ICT) forms part of the National Curriculum and is offered to all Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils as a subject in its own right, and across the curriculum to all pupils in subject areas where it is relevant and appropriate.

  • Key Stage 3: all pupils have one period of ICT per week, with all but a few classes being taught by a subject specialist.  ICT teaching groups are small enough to guarantee each pupil access to their own computer during lessons.

  • Key Stage 4: A GCSE in ICT is available as one of the Key Stage 4 GCSE option choices.  From September 2010 this will be replaced by a GCSE in Computing and a BTEC in ICT.

ICT forms a major part of a pupil's learning experience in school and its use as a learning tool and for the preparation of work is encouraged in all subjects.

ICT access outside lessons:

  • Lunchtime:

    • Room R1 - 27 computers, staffed by a member of the ICT department
