ICT Teaching:
Information & Communication Technology (ICT) forms part of the National Curriculum and is offered to all Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils as a subject in its own right, and across the curriculum to all pupils in subject areas where it is relevant and appropriate.
- Key Stage 3:
- All pupils have one period of ICT per week, with all but a few classes being taught by a subject specialist.
- ICT teaching groups are small enough to guarantee each pupil access to their own computer during lessons.
- In Year 9 all pupils complete a course in ICT Functional Skills which is examined in the summer term and leads to a Level 1 or Level 2 award.
- Key Stage 4:
- The following are available as KS4 options:
- GCSE - Computing (OCR Examination Board)
- BTEC - ICT (Edexcel Examination Board)
ICT forms a major part of a pupil's learning experience in school and its use as a learning tool and for the preparation of work is encouraged in all subjects.
