Sixth Form Contract

The School

The school will do its utmost to ensure that your Sixth Form courses are of a high quality and that you receive initial and continuing guidance about your courses. Appropriate work will be set and marked and you will be prepared thoroughly for examinations during and at the end of your courses. We will ensure, wherever possible, that there is a smooth transition between Lower and Upper Sixth courses.

Through the Head of Sixth, you will be monitored frequently and will receive regular reports and assessments of your progress, which take into account your abilities and your plans for the future. Your teaching staff and tutors will be available for discussion at the published meetings. There will also be a willingness to talk to you and your parent(s) whenever you feel that it is needed. You will be given targets based on your ability and constant checkpoints to assess your progress.

You will receive comprehensive advice and support about careers, in education and employment, from the Head of Sixth, Deputy Heads of Sixth, your tutor, the Careers office at school and Connexions. The school will provide you with facilities and resources to help you to study and acquire good learning skills and habits.

The school will also provide you with opportunities to get involved in the whole school as a community, to help you to develop into a young adult. Your tutor and the Sixth Form Pastoral Team have a genuine concern for your welfare and development. There is a network of support available whenever you encounter difficulties.

The Student

We ask that you respect the rights of all other members of the school community at all times. You will aim for the highest attendance rate possible, attending school punctually each day. Whilst in school, you will attend all lessons, tutor times and assemblies and you will not leave the school site without the permission of the Head of Sixth or one of the Deputies. You will be allowed to leave the school site at lunchtime, but if this is abused e.g. by smoking, the privilege will be withdrawn. You must try to ensure that all appointments are not in school time.

You must make a determined effort to meet deadlines and maintain good standards of work. You will attend the required number of study periods in school and support your own studies at home. You will try to attend Parents' Evenings wherever possible, to discuss your progress. You will comply with the Sixth Form Dress code, as outlined below and support school policies and guidelines about conduct.
