Spring Term 2003 - Year 7 and 8 pupils have been exploring the use of Serif
Photo plus to produce digital images.
The design brief was to produce a 400 x 400 pixel square image that uses
symmetry and is based around a theme of leaves or flowers.
The task involved the following stages:
- Creating a new 400 x 400 pixel blank image;
- Filling the background using one of the graduated fill options
available;
- Creating a new layer and drawing the initial leaf/flower image;
- Adding NOISE and BLUR to add texture to the image;
- Duplicating and flipping the layer until 4 symmetrical copies were
arranged in each corner;
- Flattening the layers to end up with 1 layer and the background;
- Experimenting with various digital filters and deformations;
- Exporting the final image as a JPEG file.
