KS3
ICT work - Y9 Digital Artwork
Autumn Term 2003 - Year 9 pupils have been exploring
the use of Serif Photo plus to produce digital images.
The design brief was to produce an image, based on a photograph of a flower
or leaf, that uses
symmetry.
The task involved the following stages:
- Choosing a suitable photographic image and loading it into Serif Photoplus;
- Selecting and copying an area of the image that would form a suitable
repeating pattern;
- Pasting the selection back in as a new layer;
- Resizing the new layer and removing any background if required;
- Duplicating the layer 3 times, flipping and moving the new layers to form a
symmetrical pattern;
- Deleting the original background and creating a new one filled with one of the graduated fill options
available;
- Flattening the layers to end up with 1 layer and the background;
- Experimenting with various digital filters and deformations;
- Exporting the final image as a JPEG file.
