Data is transmitted from the weather station every 2½ seconds by a wireless link
to a receiver connected to a computer in the Geography Department office. This
computer then uploads the data to the KLB website weather station web pages.
For improved accuracy, the temperature and humidity
sensors are housed inside a radiation shield. The shield protects against solar
radiation and other sources of radiated and reflected heat. The wireless link is
powered by a lithium battery, charged by a solar cell.
