Further details:

The KLB School weather station is a Vantage Pro2 (Manufactured by Davis Instruments) and is equipped with the following sensors:

Sensor Measuring Range Accuracy
Humidity Relative Humidity 0% - 100% +/- 1%
Temperature Temperature 0°C - 60°C +/- 0.5°C
Wind vane Wind Direction 0° - 360°
Anemometer Wind Speed 2 - 150 mph 1 mph
Rain collector / tip bucket Rainfall 0 - 9999 mm 0.2 mm

Data is transmitted from the weather station every 2½ seconds by a wireless link to a receiver connected to a computer in the Geography Department office.  This computer then uploads the data to the KLB website weather station web pages.

For improved accuracy, the temperature and humidity sensors are housed inside a radiation shield. The shield protects against solar radiation and other sources of radiated and reflected heat. The wireless link is powered by a lithium battery, charged by a solar cell.
