A Special Place for Special People.

For my work experience I went to a day care centre in Bristol called Hop, Skip and Jump. It is for children with any special needs to come with their parents and make use of the different rooms and equipment, alternatively the supervisors can look after the children whilst the parents do other things or just have a rest. Whilst I was doing work experience i had to play with the children and make sure the rooms were tidy and the equipment was out for the children.
This is the
main play area, it has lots of equipment including slides, bikes,
imitation home stuff (i.e. cookers) and clothes for dressing up.
From this picture you can also see the upstairs part of the
centre where there is sofas and a shop of donated clothes and
toys for the adults to buy.
Below is the "quiet room" where there are books and videos and sofas, this can either be used by the children or by the parents.

There is also sensory rooms like the one below that have light sound and movement sensitive equipment and lights, music, mirrors and waterbeds. Furthermore there is a arts and crafts room for painting, play dough, sand and making things.

There is a soft play area (shown below) with tunnels, objects and a ball pit.
Even more games, puzzles and a computer are stored in the games
room.
