There are many rules at Frenchay on what you can and can not do, and a lot depends on your age.
At fifteen or fourteen then rather than 'work' you shadow a chosen person in your department or ward.
This person will explain what they do and maybe let you do some small tasks, but it depends a lot on the department for example in radiology i was allowed when in accident and orthopaedics to process x-rays as it was an easy task.
Under 16's are not allowed into theatre but again depending on what department you are in then you may see some basic procedures. It is helpful if you are not squeamish about blood or needles, as they are seen often.
