• Sports and outdoor activities

How did you get there each day?

• It was in Wales so I stayed on-site though out the week

In general, what sort of things did you have to do?

• I helped the kitchen staff, helped clean up, looked after children, I assisted the instructors in activities like biking, climbing, abseiling, canoeing etc

What did you think of the work experience?

• I went to Morfa Bay in year 6 and really enjoyed. I went with my primary school and thought I would be fun to go there for work experience

Daily diary:

• Monday:
  • We drove up to Pendine in Wales where the centre is. Arrived at about 11:30.
  • 105 children came and teachers
  • Helped the children settle
  • Helped set up for lunch, washed up
  • Assisted in the afternoon activity, which was zip wire.
  • In the evening I helped set up for dinner laying all the tables and seeing if the children needed anything.
  • Then did washing up with the kitchen staff
  • At 8:00 I went off duty and did what I wanted.
• Tuesday:
  • I had to be up and in the kitchen at 8:00.
  • I set up for breakfast by putting out cereals and toast ect.
  • Morning activities were biking and archery
  • I had a break
  • Afternoon activity Caving.
  • Helped set up for dinner laying all the tables and seeing if the children needed anything.
  • Then did washing up with the kitchen staff
  • At 8:00 I went off duty and did what I wanted.
• Wednesday:
  • Up and out at 8:00
  • Helped at breakfast time making toast and giving out cereals and fruit
  • Cleaned up after breakfast
  • Morning activities were abseiling and climbing
  • Break
  • Afternoon activity was asalt-course
  • Set up for dinner
  • Washed up and put things away
  • Went off duty at 8:00
• Thursday:
  • Up and out at 8:00
  • Helped at breakfast time making toast and giving out cereals and fruit
  • Cleaned up after breakfast and helped make a packed lunches for the children
  • Went on big hike for 2 and a half hours up lots of hills
  • Went on beach and sunbathed and swam in the sea
  • Went back on the coach in the afternoon
  • Set up for dinner
  • Cleaned up after
  • Off duty at 8:00
• Friday:
  • Up and out at 8:00
  • Helped at breakfast time making toast and giving out cereals and fruit
  • Cleaned up after breakfast
  • Packed my things and cleaned my room
  • Cleaned all the rooms and made all the beds
  • Children left at 1:00
  • Chilled out
  • Then went home

• People skills
• Good at sports
• Be mentally and physically fit
• Be good with children

Any other requirements such as special clothing or safety equipment:

• Use lots of safety equipment e.g. harnesses
• Get a t-shirt to wear
