Nature of the business:

General information on what I did during the placement:

bulletI taught drama to a variety of years at the school. I also helped out in the admin section of the school, when they were organizing things for the school fair.

Daily Diary:

bulletMonday: Today I went into school and taught 4 lessons of drama. I taught to a variety of different years, all ranging for year 7-9. I also had to teach some year sixes, as it was their induction day. I also spent one hour clearing out the costumes cupboard and the make up section.
bulletTuesday:  Today I also taught more classes, and I also spent a few hours working with the senior management team in the admin section.
bulletWednesday: Today was an activity day, so this meant there were no lessons to be taken. As a result of this I got to spend the day working with some teachers and the year nines in the business and enterprise activities they were taking part in.
bulletThursday: Once again this was an activity day, so this meant i got to spend the day with the year nines and the same teachers. The activities were still all about business but were slightly different. As I was not teaching, spending the day with the year nines really helped my communication skills when working with pupils on a one-on-one basis, and in group dynamics.
bulletFriday: This was the last of the activity days. Today I spent the day outside with the year nines helping them with their team building exercises. Once again this helped my communication skills.

Location and Travel arrangements:

bulletAs I am already a pupil at the school, I was still able to use the bus service provided. I caught the bus there everyday and caught it home everyday as well.

Particular skills or abilities needed:

bulletVery good communication skills are needed, and patience as well.

Health and Safety requirements:

bulletThere were no particular health and safety requirements needed. Just making sure that no pupils were causing any harm to themselves.
