On Friday 8 November, Macey Spiers and Violet Palmer hosted their second silent disco event. In January this year, the girls raised funds for the NSPCC with their first event and the success of this venture had inspired them to hold a similar evening later in the year.
In the run-up to the disco, Macey and Violet organised the venue and a DJ, and publicised the event by designing a poster, which they put up around the Berkeley and Wotton areas. They also used Facebook and school assembly to promote the event.
On the evening, over 120 young people attended, made up of KLB students and those who attended school elsewhere but who lived in Berkeley.
The event was a massive success and the girls raised a fabulous £700 for The Bournstream Trust Children’s Charity. The charity has created and maintains a unique outdoor adventure play and picnic site designed for children with learning and/or physical difficulties, and their families.
The students are already thinking about running a further event next year, so watch this space
