On Wednesday 8 July, our Year 8 cricket team became U13 District Champions after a tremendous win over Marling School at Cirencester Cricket Club. KLB were put into bat first, posting an impressive 134 runs in 20 overs. Our opening batsmen were outstanding, with Sam Long top scoring with 42 runs not out and Henry McCubbin scoring a solid 24 runs.
The team followed up this innings with a solid bowling and fielding display, bowling Marling out for 101 runs in 18 overs. Pick of the bowlers were Sam Long taking 4 wickets, Tom Cranwell taking 3 wickets and Jonny Hayward taking 2 wickets. Special mention also goes to Ed Hawkins who kept wicket extremely well, limiting the extras to just 2 byes.
As ever this was a fantastic team performance and there were great contributions from all of the squad. Well done to Sam Long (c), Henry McCubbin, Isaac Spencer, Tom Cranwell, Jonny Hayward, Ben Flett, Rhydian Thomas, Leo Wells, Ed Hawkins, Hayden Brewer, Ewan Hadfield and Charles Aston.
