The U13 Girls football team represented Forest Green Rovers in the EFL Area Finals on Thursday 9 January at Exeter University. The girls played 12 minute 6-a-side games against teams from Exeter City, Plymouth Argyle, Newport County, Cardiff City, Bristol Rovers, Bristol City and Swansea City Football Clubs on a 3G Rubber Crumb surface.
In the group stages, the KLB squad won matches against Exeter City and Cardiff City. Lilly Webb was top scorer with four goals, followed by Laina Warren with two and Eva Kenny with one. Special mention for Romily Hughes who had many great shots on target and was unlucky to get on the scoring sheet. The defence, (Isabel Mabbett, Isabella Yeoman and Francesca Quick) and Abigail Butler in goal, worked well as a unit throughout the day.
In the knockout stage, our girls lost their match to a very strong Plymouth Argyle side, who went on to be the overall winners of the tournament. The girls were a credit to our school and were supportive of each other.
