The girls sporting programme continues to be hugely successful this academic year. However, it is hard to ignore the wonderful endeavours of the U16 girls hockey squad. This week saw the U16 girls hockey squad make the trip to Reading Hockey Club to compete in the England Hockey T3 National Finals. The girls have shown wonderful dedication in their preparations for this tournament. They put in a display to be proud of on the day in front of a huge KLB supporting group. Losing only one game all day and narrowly missing out qualification from the pool stages the group claimed a hugely respectable 5th placed finish. The most notable moment of the day was a famous victory over the pool group leaders on the main pitch at Reading. A day that I am sure staff, supports and students will cherish for some time!
What could be better than two national finals in two years? Probably three national finals in two years!
Thanks to our U14 boys hockey squad KLB School will once again perform on the national stage after claiming runners up spot at the England Hockey T2 West Regional Finals at Millfield School. The squad claimed some notable victories against Clifton College and Prior Park on route to final. Only to be beaten by Clifton College on penalty flicks in the final. Just to further emphasise how well the group performed today, the only goal they conceded all day was in the final! The squad have qualified for the National Finals that will be held at the Lee Valley Stadium, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park London. Following their outstanding performances the group will go into this tournament full of confidence.
This week can only be described as a truly historic week for the school. The levels of success being achieved by our students is truly outstanding and a fitting reward to all their hard work and dedication. The amount of pride that is shown by our students when they represent everyone connected with the school is wonderful to see. Students genuinely love representing the school!
